Uncovered in the Thaw

Trash and treasures are emerging from the fading snow banks.

Among the candy wrappers and soda cans and undelivered newspapers, I’ve seen a VCR (which I guess would fall into the trash category), lots of loose change, hoodies (more than one), and these happy mittens. Happy because they’re red and a matching pair.

While the rule is one sock, shoe, or mitten is allowed to litter the medians, sidewalks, and streets, this lovely exception makes one consider that beloved lost items are hidden somewhere nearby, hibernating under winter layers.
